Why was my email rejected during registration?

If your email was rejected during the sign-up process, the reason might be a low reCAPTCHA score. We use reCAPTCHA to prevent spam and bot registrations on our app.

However, some legitimate emails might receive low reCAPTCHA scores due to factors such as using a VPN, browsing in private mode, or having a network or IP address flagged as suspicious. These factors can make the interaction appear automated.

Here's a more detailed breakdown of why this might happen:

  • Suspicious Activity: If a user's activity or network is flagged as suspicious, reCAPTCHA might assign a lower score, even if they are a legitimate user.

  • VPN/Private Browsing: Using a VPN or private browser can lead to lower scores because these tools mask the user's IP address, potentially making their activity appear less human.

  • Network Issues: Problems with a user's internet connection or network configuration can also cause reCAPTCHA to flag their activity as suspicious.

  • Bot-like behavior: If a user's interactions on a website mimic bot-like behavior (e.g., rapid clicks, automated form submissions), reCAPTCHA might assign a low score.

  • IP Address Reputation: If a user's IP address is associated with a history of spam or malicious activity, reCAPTCHA might flag their requests as suspicious, even if the current user is legitimate.

  • Shared Networks: If a user is on a shared network (e.g., a public Wi-Fi hotspot) that has been used abusively, reCAPTCHA might incorrectly flag their activity as suspicious.

How to Resolve a Low reCAPTCHA Score:

Here are some ways to solve this issue:

  • Use your primary email address.

  • Ensure that during account creation you avoid the factors mentioned above. This includes temporarily disabling any VPN or private browsing settings.

  • If it is a Google email (Gmail or Google Workspace), use Google SSO. This can help establish your legitimacy.
