How to use the UTM parameter tracking in your Facebook ads

This article is a part of our legacy installation and does not apply to our Funnelytics 2.0 Performance Platform

In order for Funnelytics to know where your visitors are coming from, we rely on UTM parameters in order to get this information.

1. Add Parameters to All Your Facebook Ads

The easy way to add parameters to all your Facebook ads is to add the following string to the end of all the URLs in your Facebook ads:

?utm_source=&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=&utm_content=&utm_term=

2. Use 'Previous Steps' in Funnelytics to discover the results

Click on the page that you are sending traffic to and select PREVIOUS STEPS from the tabs on the right-hand side.

Under Previous Steps, click on UTM EXPLORER.

This will show you a list view of all the UTM parameters that we have detected.

 

You can now easily filter the results using the filters at the top, and map these results directly onto the canvas.

As Facebook sends traffic to your site, they will automatically be adding parameters to the links. You can discover what parameters they are adding by looking in this view.
