Introduction

Funnelytics offers a powerful feature called the Notes Feature, which allows you to add informative annotations to your canvas and elements using tags. In this guide, we'll walk you through how to create, modify, and maximize the benefits of notes in Funnelytics. Whether you want to add important context, instructions, or reminders, the Notes Feature is a valuable tool for enhancing your funnel-building experience.

Accessing and Enabling the Notes Feature

To start using the Notes Feature, follow these steps to access and enable it:

  1. Open a canvas in Funnelytics.

  2. Open the left panel containing all the tabs.

  3. If the Notes tab is not visible, toggle on the "Planning" switch. The Notes tab will become available.

  4. Alternatively, select an element on the canvas, go to the "Planning" section, and click on "Notes" to activate the feature for that specific element.

Types of Notes and Eligible Elements

The Notes Feature in Funnelytics comes in two types, each serving a distinct purpose. Additionally, it's important to note which elements are eligible for notes and which ones are not.

1. Canvas Level Note: This type of note is associated with the entire canvas, providing a high-level overview of your funnel. Notably, the canvas level note cannot be deleted, making it a permanent reference point. Each canvas has only one canvas level note.

2. Element Note: Element notes are specific to individual elements on the canvas, such as sources, pages, and actions. These notes offer a way to provide context, instructions, or insights tailored to each element. Element notes are versatile and can be created, edited, or deleted as needed.

Eligible Elements for Notes:

The following elements can have associated notes:

  • Sources: Notes can be added to sources, helping you annotate the data sources of your funnel.

  • Pages: Notes provide context or instructions specific to individual pages in your funnel.

  • Actions: Add notes to actions, offering insights or reminders tied to specific actions.

Elements Without Note Functionality:

The following elements, while crucial to your funnel, currently do not support the addition of notes:

  • Shapes: Shapes such as rectangles, circles, etc. cannot have associated notes.

  • Text Boxes: Text elements do not support notes.

  • Lines: Lines also do not have the capability to hold notes.

Understanding which elements are eligible for notes ensures that you use this feature effectively to enhance your funnel-building process.

Creating and Modifying Notes

In this section, we'll dive into the step-by-step process of creating and modifying notes within Funnelytics. Whether you want to add important information to your funnel canvas or provide context for specific elements, the Notes Feature offers a straightforward way to do so.

To start, you'll need to make sure the Notes tab is enabled. This can be done by toggling the "Planning" switch. Once enabled, you can access the Notes tab through the left panel.

Step 3: Access the Canvas Level Note

  • Enter your note, offering context, instructions, or insights relevant to the selected element.

  • Element notes are flexible and can be edited or deleted whenever needed.

  • Use the provided buttons to make text bold, italic, underlined, or strikethrough.

  • You can also apply heading tags to create different levels of titles.

  • Experiment with subscript and superscript for specialized text effects.

Step 6: Adding Lists, Links, Images, and Videos

  • Enhance your notes by adding bullet or numbered lists using the corresponding buttons.

  • Insert hyperlinks by highlighting text, clicking the link button, and entering the URL.

  • Embed images by clicking the image button, pasting the image URL, and confirming.

  • Similarly, embed videos by pasting the video URL and confirming.

Step 7: Clearing Formatting and Alignment

  • If you wish to remove formatting, select the text and use the "Clear Formatting" button.

  • Align your text left, center, or right using the alignment buttons.

By following these steps, you'll be able to create comprehensive and well-structured notes for both your canvas and individual elements. Remember that notes can serve as guides, reminders, and important context, making your funnel-building process more organized and effective.

Best Practices and Use Cases

The Notes Feature offers various ways to enhance your funnel-building process:

  • Canvas Notes: Use canvas notes to provide an overview of the entire funnel, important milestones, or strategic decisions.

  • Element Notes: Utilize element notes to document specific details for sources, pages, or actions. This can include copy for pages, email templates, or campaign insights.

  • Reminders and Instructions: Add reminders or instructions for yourself or your team, ensuring everyone is on the same page.

  • Changes and Updates: Keep track of changes made to campaigns, pages, or elements by adding notes about modifications.
